The Son of The Thunder God (Ukkosenjumalan poika)

A slapstick Christian satire that’s more Monty Python’s Life of Brian than Jeanette Winterson’s The Passion.

At an urgent crisis meeting, a group of pagan deities realise that Finns have stopped believing in their own God. To remedy this, Supreme God Ukko sends his son Rutja to earth—in the body of Sampso, an antiques dealer—to set things straight and convert the nation to its original faith. Rut ja gathers converts from all walks of life, including the entire population of the country’s mental hospitals. By the novel’s end, Finland has changed beyond recognition—and is healed in the process.
