Saviour Surunen (Vapahtaja Surunen)

A rowdy tale about a human rights activist gone rogue that’s full of irony.

Viljo Surunen is a devoted activist for Amnesty International who has grown tired of the constant, ineffectual bureaucracy of the charitable organization. Deciding to take direct action for the first time, Surunen travels to the fictional Central American country of Macabraguay to liberate political prisoners. Forming a band of proteges out of these escapees, he takes them with him to a communist paradise in Eastern Europe, where he enlists their help in freeing a handful of dissidents from a mental hospital.
